Response envelopes are used in direct mail packages, making it easier for customers or donors to respond to your offer or appeal.
Two popular types of response envelopes are a standard #9 envelope with a regular flap, or a remit envelope (number 9 or 6.5) with larger, extended flaps.
A pre-addressed courtesy response envelope (CRM) requires the recipient to provide a first class stamp.
To make it easier to respond, a business reply mail envelope (BRM) is pre-addressed and the postage is paid for by the mailing company. The USPS only charges for postage on returned envelopes.

Remit Envelope Printing Options
- Envelopes are made using 24 pound white wove paper.
- Envelopes are printed using the offset printing process.
- Printing inks are black or PMS colors.
- Large solids, photographs or screened areas are not recommended.
- Proof options include a PDF Soft Proof or a color inkjet proof.
- If the remit envelope is part of a direct mail package that will claim automation postal rates, the USPS requires the correct barcode and FIM code to be printed on the envelope. Castle Press can provide you with the correct artwork.
